The Importance of ‘Strategic Friendships’
Do you have ‘strategic friendships’? Of course you do. Strategic friendship is just internet-speak for ‘network’. And while Emma Walsh may be many things—reality star, TV host, and stunt driver, she credits much of her success to networking. On The Road to Success Podcast, Emma discusses the role networking plays in advancing her career, tips and strategies for building professional relationships, and the balance between genuine friendships and a professional network.
Body Language & Confidence
Smartly dressed? Rolex watch? Polished pair of Christian Louboutin shoes? On paper (or social media!) these might look like the marks of success, and we’re all lead to believe that success = confidence. But what if that isn’t the case? What if body language is a better indicator of confidence than how you present yourself? The Behavior Panel discusses the impact body language has on confidence, and provides tips for regaining confidence while under stress, blending in confidently, and the importance of managing your confidence.
From the Media People Podcast Archives: Fifth Story President - Shelley Middlebrook [2017]
Shelley Middlebrook, then President of Fifth Story—an agency specializing in content marketing solutions and strategies, stops by to chat. Shelley started her professional career selling cars, but a recession moved her into media sales as a print rep, working for some of Quebecor’s B2B publications. Her next role was at Brunico Communications, where she started an impressive 11-year stint capped off with rising to the role Executive Vice President. She pivoted into broadcast media at the CBC, and after holding senior roles at Rogers Media, the Globe and Mail, and Postmedia, she’s moved into the agency world. This episode originally aired in February, 2017.
